A native of Sweetwater, TX, Jennifer Johnson, MD, returned to the Big Country to provide medical care for patients with musculoskeletal pain and injuries. Dr. Johnson provides the diagnosis and nonsurgical treatment of both pediatric and adult pain or injuries. Dr. Johnson specializes in ultrasound guided injections, stem cell and platelet rich plasma injections, and concussion management using IMPACT computerized concussion evaluation system.
Dr. Johnson completed her undergraduate training at Texas Christian University where she graduated Cum Laude with departmental honors in neuroscience. She then went on to complete her medical training at Texas Tech University where she was elected into the prestigious Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Medical Society, and she was named “Outstanding Medical Student of the Year”. She completed residency in San Antonio, where she was named “Intern of the Year”. She continued her training to complete a fellowship in Sports Medicine through Christus Santa Rosa Hospital partnered with The Sports Medicine Associates of San Antonio, the team doctors for the San Antonio Spurs. Now in Abilene, she is proudly serving as a team physician for Hardin Simmons University and several area high schools.
Dr. Johnson is an active member of the Texas Medical Association and the Big Country County Medical Society where she currently serves as Vice President has previously served as Ethics Chair. She is a graduate of the Texas Medical Association Leadership College and is a committee member for the Texas Medical Association.
